Wood Island Light

T

his is one of my childhood memories. Our family would spend 5 or 6 weeks each summer in Biddeford Pool, Maine. I could see the light from my bedroom window. We would also pass by it on our way to Fortunes Rocks do go flounder fishing. I can't tell you how many times I saw this scene over the years.

This drawing was done on Vellum Bristol paper - 11x14 (27.94x35.56 cm) 100# (260 gsm). I used my clutch pencils with 3B, F, and 4H graphite. The drawing took me about 30 hours to draw.

I actually started out doing a larger drawing on 50x70 cm paper but change my mind for a smaller format. I will certainly go back to the original sketch on the larger format and finish it. Then I'll send it to my Dad for Father's Day.

I have published a WIP that you can see here
