All of the drawings I have produced to date have been either from life or a photo reference. I've been wanting to do something more original and less constraining. This sketch was done from a childhood memory of a brook that ran behind our family home in Dawn Acres. I think the last time I saw that brook I was 12.
I'll be doing this more and more. I think the best reference material we have is in our head and to express that in a drawing is very rewarding. It only took a few minutes to visualize and rough out what I wanted to draw. I used a piece of 160gsm printer paper on my clipboard and a 2B .5mm mechanical pencil while sitting in a comfortable chair in the living room. Give it a go, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
